No that wasn't my point.

But its certainly not going to help when more and more people become homeless and desperate. Most of the new homeless in Hawaii and Florida will work within the system... some will fail and turn to crime. Its not like they'll want to steal... but they'll do it when desperate enough.

America is hardly "soft on crime"... despite jailing more than any other country in the world we have the worst crime problem in the world. The worst murder rates. A whole generation of inner city kids who are crime entrepreneurs. Your answer is "more of the same."

Ya gotta hand it to the crime entrepreneurs for at least one thing.

The smash and grab thing is very innovative. They figured it out, planned it, organized it and so far have executed their plans quite well. It worked, and like any successful innovation there are now imitators.

These groups of young people are really just anarchist business people who don't believe they benefit from "regulations" against theft. They don't think they hurt the CEOs who own these companies. No different from MAGA anarchists or Mafia.

If they thought they had a chance working within the rules of our culture, they would. Many of them would be innovative entrepreneurs in the legal world.

Some of them are on their way to becoming successful professional criminals... like the Irish, Italian, Russian mafias. Professional criminals own at least half of Las Vegas now. They cleaned up during prohibition and the Drug War is WAY WAY more profitable. Crime among minority entrepreneurs is a big part of the "American Way"...

Put a kid in prison for becoming a marijuana merchant... and he comes out with less chances and more knowledge about professional profit from crime.

They look at our society and think... "I might as well enjoy crime while it lasts, 'cause I'm fucked if I try to work within an unjust system. And if I'm lucky and cleaver I can make enough to live well through crime." Success in the crime business is just like any other business, profit and loss, profit margin vs cash flow. Supply chain.

It's like a boss I had in a legitimate business that was all cash. I said "How do you get away not paying taxes?"

He said "We don't tell them."

That was after I realized my employers were mafioso.
