"Right now, as long as PooTin is in power, the RuZZian empire will be in a constant state of collapse."
I think a tight-rope act might not be a bad thing for the world.

"If a RuZZia without PooTin is a greater threat than a RuZZia with PooTin"
I think that depends on how he's replaced. A "peaceful transition" (out the window) with a GRU-approved replacement might not be as bad, but a civil war which results in multiple parties controlling nukes would definitely be a greater threat.

"we need to consider throwing Ukraine under the bus and providing PooTin with a lifeline"
We both know that that would be a bad thing.
