Humbly report, Joe, I believe the price/roll issue is much more important to an amateur than it is to a pro.

Pros generally do not absorb the cost of film, instead passing it on to their clients. Compared to their hour or day rate, the cost of film is quite small, sometimes completely negligible.

I therefore believe the cost/roll is much more of an issue with amateurs, whereas the quality (whatever that means) is the issue with pros.

If a film manufacturer is gaining market share, my assumption would be that this is on the grounds of price when it comes to the amateur market, and on the grounds of quality when it comes to the pros.
