No, I don't agree with your assessment of the situation.
There is an image problem in the investment community,
specifically that Iomega is a one-trick pony (the Zip).
I believe the adds for the Ditto may be an advertising
campaign to break that stereotype, demonstrating they
have multiple products and cover a spectrum of storage
requirments.

As for consumers of Iomega's products, you have a point.
Zip and Jaz may sound like toys, but I appreciate that.
If you break the market down into segements, there are
the computer geeks (who are performance minded and do
not care what a product is called), home computer users
(who favor "friendly" peripherals that don't require a
degree to operate), and the business segment (yes, a
serious image is important to these folks). In my view,
Iomega is firmly entrenched in two out of these three
primary market segments. Will they also get into the
business segement without a product makeover - I think
they will eventually, because most companies rely on
technical groups made up largely of young code warriors
who already have a zip or jax at home.
