One episode left of HBO's "The Last of Us" in season 1. If a zombie-movie-hater like myself can love it, anyone can. There have only been two brief zombie scenes in the last couple of episodes, because the show is great TV about people trying to survive when the world's regular order and support systems vanish. Mostly how they help or turn on each other.

The second half of episode 7 in the shopping mall is as good as you will see in any great cable TV show. Seriously. Like the lab episode on "Breaking Bad."

Season 2 is stacked up by the writers' strike, one of the few shows I will regret seeing delayed.

Harlan Coben's "Shelter" on APV has been worth following, even as the last episode became more Hardy Boys (with swearing) than serious drama. A couple of strong young actors and an intriguing mystery. Last episode comes out next Friday.

One more "Chelsea Detective" to go next week too. A kind and gentle cop show.

The "Fisherman's Friend" sequel movie has all the hallmarks of trying to milk a second chapter from a cute story. Good but not great.

Also finished Season 26 of "Silent Witness" with a decent mystery. Jack still had to chase someone and get in a fight (don't all forensic techs every week?) but they focused more on a strong plot. No doubt Season 27 will emerge next year.
