Alex,
TTWO has roughly 11 million shares out and a price of $8. Based on a story from Multimedia Wire, most of the increase was due to Wheel of Fortune on N64. The bad part of this is that Hasbro is aggressively looking to take Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy first to the Playstation and then to other platforms (presumably N64 as well?...I don't know how long the TTWO license is for...).
Eidos has something like 14-15 million shares outstanding... I don't think ATVI could grab them either. There was some speculation that ATVI was eyeing Infogrames...
I don't know. The BROD/ATVI suggestion was not taken very positively on the BROD thread either. Oh well! ;) In any case, I-war should be out this quarter (ATVI was still in negotiations when heard from last).
Have you seen the current marketing push for Hexen II, Dark Reign, ZGI, and Heavy Gear? ATVI is offering $20 as a rebate for each game. That means, at COMPUSA, you can pick up HG for $29, Hex/DR/ZGI for $20. No wonder where ATVI's margins are going?! The most likely explanation for this is 1) Heavy Gear is not moving well 2) They are trying to build up a user base for the release of the H2/DR expansion packs.
Of note, Week ending Jan 25th, even though Myst was #1 in unit sales, Quake II (4th in units) was #1 in revenues! That's what counts!
Talk to you soon! BTW, lots more people talking about BZ, though the demo didn't have much staying power at Gamespot...probably due to the huge size of the file!
