I bought RIO Can a few years ago when real estate was out of favour for $9 it then has gone to $ 22. This is because distributions have gone up every year. The percent in the paper is based on last years distributions therefore it may or may not reflect the current year. RIO Can should pay out about $1.75 this year pre split.

The commodity investment trust generally pay out more than RIETs but part of the distributions reflects the depletion of the the resource. In my opinion these distributions could fluctuate more than the RIETs
