Trump Vows to Ban All News Media That Doesn’t Praise Him

Donald Trump launched into his most overtly fascist assault on the First Amendment in a Sunday night tirade, promising that he will remove from the airwaves any news media that is not friendly towards him should he be reelected as president of the United States.
Trump specifically took aim at NBC News to make his point (ironically, NBC is the network that employed and elevated Donald Trump duringThe Apprenticedays), writing that the network “should be investigated for its ‘Country Threatening Treason.’”
Trump then made his intentions crystal clear:
“I say up front, openly, and proudly, that when I WIN the Presidency of the United States, they and others of the LameStream Media will be thoroughly scrutinized for their knowingly dishonest and corrupt coverage of people, things, and events. Why should NBC, or any other of the corrupt & dishonest media companies, be entitled to use the very valuable Airwaves of the USA, FREE? They are a true threat to Democracy and are, in fact, THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE! The Fake News Media should pay a big price for what they have done to our once great Country!”
There is no grey area here.
All news networks must forcefully and unequivocally sound the alarm about Donald Trump’s stated goals to end the free press and implement a Trump-friendly state-run media in its place.
Unfortunately, rather than working to combat Trump’s threats, many legacy news organizations instead seem to be vying for a place in the future Trump state-run media regime.
The Washington Post recently wrote an articlelying to readers about Trump’s overt involvement in the House GOP’s sham impeachment efforts against President Biden. NBC News gave Trump a major platform on the inaugural episode of the new Meet The Press, in which Trump’s lies were met with minimal pushback, aside from a “fact-check” posted later on the network’s website.
From saying he wants to “terminate the Constitution”to his promise to end the free press, Trump could not be making his intentions clearer.
The question that remains: will the legacy media finally pay attention?
