That video says = black screen "this video is private". So I don't know what it was. But a big black obliterated screen is how the lights will be going out for about 7 billion people the way the crazed ones are going.
The process is fascinating.
All my life, there was information of various kinds about the death and destruction, madness and crazy ideas from history. For several decades, I thought of those pre-me days as simply the obvious result of less-sensible, reasonable, intelligent and socially integrated people than those of us in the present. Evolution was how life worked and civilisation was a given that had been achieved pretty much everywhere.
Now I understand that things are different, with people by the billion and weaponry by the megaton, but I guess the lack of thinking is still how it used to be. The Romans marched to Hadrian's Wall and German forests, Turks rode horses across to China or the other way, depending on how it worked in the details, with Christians occupying the beautiful cathedral in Constantinople no longer there. Mass carnage was normal.
Right now, real time, I get to see the lead up to the mass obliteration and the lack of thinking that propels it. It's horrific because those doing it are so imbued with their being right they are like zombies on a rampage.
I'm sure Ursula thinks she is eminently intelligent, reasonable, civilized, well-behaved, wants civilisation and all those good things. Yet I see her as a Nazi in drag. Jacinda I'm sure is pleasant and kind and all that, but she reminds me very much of somebody I personally know who uses pleasant hippie as camouflage for egomania, control and being boss on steroids. They might not personally cut somebody's throat, but they are very happy to organize the men to do so = because they have to stop those horrible barbarians from Russia.
I don't pretend that Putin in particular or Russia in general are lovey dovey nice guys. I recall Putin bringing his horrible dog to a meeting with Angela Merkel, her sitting nervously while the dog loomed large. It was a well-behaved dog but was a threat nonetheless. I guess it was a deliberate threat to intimidate her. The Prime Minister of Australia threatened to "shirt front" Putin during the meeting in Australia - Putin had his nuclear weapons on a warship off the coast during the meetings. The Prime Minister was more circumspect in person.
Having watched the approach of NATO to USSR/Russia despite Gorby taking over and after the collapse I can see that Russia might take a hard-line approach to the threatening approach right up to their border and then the attempt to grab Crimea following the criminal murderous coup in Kiev funded and promoted by USA = Obama, Nuland, Biden Joe10%BigGuy and co-conspirators galore. Russia reasonably concluded that since Ukraine had ceased to exist as a legitimate government, with murder the rule [including burning alive in Odessa] they too would join the conflict because losing Crimea to USA warships and rocket launch bases would be undesirable.
It was a short drive for Wagner to Moscow and it would be the same distance for Yank Tanks from Crimea to Moscow. Yank Tanks to Murmansk from Norway [already stationed there are manoeuvres conducted there years ago] would bite off the top. Kaliningrad and St Petersburg would be easily taken over too, or at least blockaded.
Imagine how Americans would go berserk if a Russian Nuland-equivalent was actually in Washington, paying for a coup, issuing instructions on who should take over, and arranging murder to achieve that. Americans went berserk over imagined Facebook "election interference".
It's a horribly fascinating process, with all of us right there in the cross hairs of history. And they just carry on regardless.
If there was Malthusian pressure of millions of excess people and some way of getting rid of spare young men was needed and the borders and enemy over the hills were threatening, it is understandable that mass killing to keep numbers down was just part of life. But population decline in Russia, Europe, USA, China, North Korea, Japan and even Iran and maybe India is the greater problem than too many people.
The impetus to be the boss and get the loot seems to be the driving force. Women are largely leading the process in the so-called "free world" which is anything but these days - even free speech is now being stifled with Jacinda Ardern leading that "Pulpit of Truth" process of censorship.
I don't know what they think Russia will do in response to their attacks. Of course Putin will turn that dog loose.
Those atomic bombs, rockets and whatnot were not built just for fun. MAD and Dr Strangelove 60 years later are even worse than then.
Regular people are happy with it. They believe the propaganda. They say Russia has to be stopped from ruling the world. They think Putin woke up one day and out of the blue invaded Ukraine as the start of his conquest process. I mean friends and family - and even if I try to explain things, they know they have it right. They have no idea who Nuland is and know nearly nothing but they know they are right. Social proof, mass media, government and Stockholm Syndrome, tribal identity etc is how their brains work. Conflicting ideas are ipso facto false with no consideration necessary. Heresy trials, excommunication, Inquistiion, gaoling, burning at the stake of apostates, are how they respond. "We know the world is flat and that's that. Don't give us any of your spherical bullshit".
So they are going to fry alive, or starve in the aftermath of systems collapse, and be killed in the local murdering for bags of rice they might find in other people's houses that haven't been burned. Cannibalism will come back into fashion because there won't be enough shellfish or forest fauna to feed the survivors.
People have grown accustomed to almost free food being produced by giant rows of combine harvesters, fertilizer factories, ships and supermarkets, which won't be working after they run out of fuel and spare parts.
Hong Kong and Manhattan before the Great and Glorious British Empire brought civilisation could not support more than a couple of thousand agricultural inhabitants. The tens of millions will get hungry quickly when food stops flowing. Migration to somewhere else will be essential, but everywhere else is already full.
But maybe they'll be obliterated in megatonage and the problem will be resolved immediately.
It's strange but true. The rockets are locked and loaded, targeted and ready to pull the trigger.
