A heads up about Apple's macOS Music app (formerly iTunes) and syncing song play counts. When Music was first available in macOS Catalina, any songs played on external devices like iPods and iPhones did not update their count or time last played when synced with a Mac (I complained about it here).

Somewhere along the way that was fixed, and now if you play a song on an external device, the play count and time last played will both be updated and show up on the Mac in Music.

Probably not a big deal to most people, but I have a playlist called Favorites Not Played Lately that tracks songs from my Favorites playlist that haven't been played in the last 3 months so I can play those. With almost 1,500 songs in Favorites, some songs can go a long time without being played, so it's a good way to hear them again.
