Without specific response to Zoltek, I will comment on the market, at least what we are seeing. One of my clients makes a vapor grown fiber which competes (well sort of), with milled pan which Zoltek makes. Any excess carbon fiber can be milled and sold into this market.
My client is in the process of bringing on line a 500,000 pound pilot plant line. As the vapor grown fiber has three times the effectiveness in electrical properties that the pan variety has, it could displace 1.5M pounds of Zoltek's carbon fiber.
We have turned down some requests for samples at this time as a stated condition was that the potential customer wanted in excess of 1.5M pounds per year, (4.5M pounds of pan equivalent) a quantity that we cannot promise just yet.
We are seeing similar requests from other vendors, happily, most are smaller, In short, we can sell all we have at $50 per pound ($16.67 equivalent). I don't understand any comments about the market being slow.
As far as the range of products, it is incredible. I cannot comment specifically, but there are things I certainly never thought of, and that's my job.
