I find your analysis as simplistic as hers... on the opposite side in what you chose to see... but equally blind.

Prior to the western backed counter-coup in Ukraine... was the Russian backed coup in Ukraine...

yada, yada, yada...

But, lots of flavors of simplistic... some more reality based than others...

So, it started as a domestic dispute... but then, Putin got drunk, pulled out a gun, and started shooting...

And, what the hell should you expect would happen, then ? The neighbors called the cops, the cops instituted a lock down, there's still a gun fight going on, and now all the neighbors are holding guns of their own, waiting to see if the crazy neighbor will sober up... and get the help he needs...

But, you've read that story in the news often enough to know what's more likely to happen...

It's still obvious fact that RUSSIA invaded Ukraine... NOT the other way around. And Russia has no business being there... has no valid justification... as the Russian apologists pose: "but, Russians are paranoid, so allowed to do what ever they want to others because of that"... is just stupid.

Simple is: Russians are just bad neighbors. And, that's hardly news.

And, then, "reviving the former Soviet Empire"... which you accept as perfectly within Putin's right... without considering whether or not any one else actually wants to be subjugated by Russians, again ? Makes it obvious... not only that all of Ukraine wasn't ever and is not now the limit of Putin's ambition... but also makes it clear that your view of that is... as one sided and blindly immune to reason as that of any you criticize.

It's not going well for him... and, for now, that's probably about the best outcome that can be hoped for.

There's no path to victory, for Russia, through escalation...

So, wait for the old codger to kick off... and then see what happens in the internal fight for control over Russia and it's future... and maybe this ignominious chapter in history will close without the Russians going nuts and extinguishing themselves, along with everyone else ?
