I am not an advanced user..However, I have two HD's..Older machines, because of Bios limitation can only control a disk less than 1.4g older machines 547mb..When you install a large HD (1.4+) you need software to partition the disk to run on the old Bios..The HD companies supply software to accomplish this. However, you system will show or look at your HD as though you have two HDs..I sure Chris or Bob could provide a better explanation.. When I installed my new HD I had the option of retaining my old HD and the new split 3.1g HD..BD ties my three *HDs together as tough I have one Hard Drive..Its a good little product however, it will have limited shelve life.. New machines selling at less than $1000 are equipt. with 3.1g + HDs..
