US Government to Shut Down

Reversing last week's move, the commercials increased their net short position in silver and decreased their net short position in gold. See here and here and here.

Gold touched its 300 dma and is in oversold territory. Silver had a long candle on Friday meaning there was a bigger gap between the high and low for the day. Copper reversed its downward trend and had a positive week. The HUI headed lower this week but ended the week with relative strength to the metal.

WTIC made a new high this week and pulled back which is not unexpected as it was in overbought territory. Natgas is continuing its steady uptrend since April of this year.

The US$ hit a new high for the move following the increase in the 10 year yield. I've added this chart. The DOW, SPX and the TSX look ready for a bounce. I've added the QQQ this week.

Ed Steer's comments:

" ... if we could see that report as of the COMEX close yesterday, it would show that both silver and gold are ready to blow higher... "
