A general educational note here and not intended to refer to or point to anyone real, fictional, or otherwise...

The purpose of this post is to advise the reader to do their own personal homework when making any and all decisions regarding taking any market position...

It is hoped that awareness of these characteristics may be helpful in those efforts and that the following would be read with that in mind...

SEEKING AND CRAVING VALIDATION FROM OTHERS

NOTE: The following is a common ordinary day lesson in general psychology and is strictly educational and is not intended to be directed at any one individual, any resemblance to any one individual is purely by random chance although there are always those individuals who fit some or all of the actual description being defined here.

GENERAL VALIDATION

It is reasonable for anyone to want their ideas, choices, achievements, or opinions validated by those around them.

After all, what is the first thing we do as children when we accomplish something?

We look to our parents for recognition (validation) that we did a good thing.

General Validation is the "recognition and acceptance" of someone else's experience.

Self-validation is the ability to recognize and acknowledge your own internal experience.

It is not about agreeing with someone or accepting their thoughts as your own; it is about being able to accept these thoughts and experiences as being valid.

Validation is part of being interdependent and relying on the feedback and encouragement of others around us.

Even very independent people still need validation in some aspects of their life; however, they are also able to accept their own self-validation if they do not get it from someone else.

The problem arises when self-validation is not possible or is not valued.

This means, if an individual puts the opinion, approval, or recognition of someone else over their own feelings, then they will need that external validation endlessly, they will continue to crave other people's validation on an ongoing basis.

These are the individuals who constantly scan online forums and all kinds of social media platforms and devices seeking validation and approval in order to hide the fact that they secretly disapprove of themselves.

FALSE VALIDATION

SEEKING AND CRAVING APPROVAL AND ACCEPTANCE USING FALSE VALIDATION FROM OTHERS

False validation is using the eventual likelihood of a repeating natural occurrence as actual proof the individual was correct all along.

Two examples of false validation:

The individual is watching cars pass by on a highway and then the individual claims that a blue car will pass by.

Eventually, a blue car passes by and the individual seeking false validation then boasts about how he was right, that a blue car will pass by while everyone else doubted him.

Another simple example is that of predicting it will rain.

The individual seeking false validation claims it will rain.

Many days come and go and no rain is seen.

The individual explains that the moisture is gathering in the atmosphere and "just doing their thing" and the clouds will appear soon enough.

One day, it finally rains and then the individual stands up and claims he was right all along when everyone else doubted him.

These kinds of false validations always occur in nature as a matter of course as one would expect and don't require predictions from a special transcendental soothsayer wiseman.

It will always eventually rain.

Predicting rain is the same as the morning rooster claiming responsibility for the sunrise.

The attempt to get any variety of validation by entertaining a crowd of strangers online is no different than an entertainer on a live stage doing stand-up comedy.

There is the identical combination of a big reach and a lack of control over the audience's reaction.

In fact, the negative consequences may prove more lasting than the endorphin rush itself, this explains the quick to vanish poster’s “high” and the constant need to seek more and more false validation.
