After a tumultuous week, at the end the Market as whole and the Biotech indices were more or less marking time this week, up +0.1% for the NASDAQ Composite. Alas, the Contest picks generally didn’t fair as well.

The top stock for the week was ICPT showing a pop of +65% for the week on news of a merger with the Italian firm AlfaSigma, at a substantial premium price (86% of the price at offer), giving a weekly performance of up +65%. Another winner for the last two weeks that the reports missed was DNTH (nee MGTA). On Sept 12th MGTA underwent a reverse split of 14 for one, and then immediately performed a reverse merger with Dianthus Therapeutics, and changed their ticker to DNTH. After pricing in the value of Dianthus, the stock rose to about where it is now, showing a YTD performance of +150% (and second place in that list). Second place for the week was GMDA (+14%), probably responding to the news of a substantial buying by insiders, but not quite erasing the -22% loss of the previous week.

In the bad news department, INZY continued its ping-pong activity, this week down -36% more than covering last weeks gain of +29%. But at the end it’s still the top YTD performer (now an even +300%). CRIS had a reverse split of 20 for one, which still didn’t stop them from losing -22%.

The contest overall continues to lose value, the average and median values dropping -$3.4k and -$2.7k respectively. And in terms of the individual portfolios, once again only a single portfolio was in the black, at least with a more substantial gain of $7k by Jack Hartmann, as opposed to last week’s top performer gaining only $540. JACK HARTMANN achieved this gain by virtue of holding BOTH IOPT and second place gainer for the week, GMDA. This improved his YTD standing to just below the median portfolio.

There were no new faces in the top seven YTD portfolios this week, but some rearrangements. ERIKOTTO and RKRW dropped a spot (holding INZY and MOR respectively), elevating STEVE LOKNESS into second place YTD. It was the same story, BLADERUNNER, holding CRIS, dropped past A.J. MULLEN, trading the fifth and sixth place spots. ALONER was in the number twelve spot for the week (holding CRIS, again), but still held on to the YTD crown. The gap between first and second has now risen to $12k.
