Hello all been lurking but thought I had to offer an opinion on the Microsoft buyout.
There are a couple of reasons I doubt this 1) We can not forget the multiple class action lawsuits pending (with merit in my opinion thanks to Phil W. and his illtimed comments). These blood sucking lawyers would love to have any viable purchaser to collect from. 2) I don't think that Microsoft is ready to take on the Justice Dept. right now for this.
Another reason could be Mr. F's comment on one of the links I saw earlier this week about a Microsoft buy where he said something like We are not who they are looking for since we are 95% UNIX.
The biggest question is really the Lawsuits.
I am long Informix with too many shares in at a high price but feel that patience will bring it all back to a nice profit.
My reason for being long is my software background and the high marks IFMX continues to receive. In the highend ERP market IFMX was doing well until the troubles arose then ORCL became the only safe choice, now, there is a lower cost and better alternative. In the highend to mid market ERP world ORCL is the enemy and all the vendors would prefer to see IFMX win and this should start to show the end of this quarter or next. IMHO
