As far as cars, I’m not sure the EV’s will rule the world. They’re expensive, to build those batteries it takes a lot of costly materials, and so on. Besides, the battery is big and heavy - driving it all over the place takes energy.

The grid is old and overloaded, and the production of electricity isn’t increasing rapidly enough. The greens refuse to make use of the greenest energy of them all - nuclear. So, for now, converting all cars to EVs is unrealistic.

Imho, the hybrids give an interesting alternative. The batteries are much smaller and less expensive (and not as heavy). The energy generator is the ICE. Most interestingly, the mileage per gallon is significantly higher - which is in itself a big victory.

….About the XOM spill - and for that matter, the BP spill in the Gulf, roughly 10 years ago - they were supposed to be huge disasters. But, bacteria got to work, digesting the spilled oil - and things returned to normal. Everyone just stopped talking about it.
