Siebel was a long-time favorite of both Bill and I. But no, I didn't have him for a teacher or anything; in fact, I met him for the first time last month. I've already read the page at Tom's Hardware and a few other places have similar stories (though lack Tom's "real world" benchmark methodology). It's of great interest to me--you'll see why on Friday morning ;) Outlook Express is strictly an Email/Newsreader app, so NetManage was definitely talking about Outlook97. It's part of the Office suite, and it's something that the customer pays money for (and you can also buy Outlook97 separately for $99 or so). Outlook is now a part of Office in the same way that Word and Excel are, so I personally see no wrongdoing here. Outlook98 (ships in March) will be free to any registered users (who paid for it) of Office97 or Outlook97 stand-alone. Primarily, it fixes a lot of complaints of Outlook97 users--internet standards (email) in particular.
