Since the Palestinians had been pushed into and locked into Gaza after the Israelis took their land, and for 70 years they've been asking for some kind of justice or compensation. And the UN has repeatedly condemned Israel's policy to no avail what so ever in addition to us giving Israel a quarter trillion (more in real dollars). How long do you think it could go on before the anger of young Palestinians, who saw no future for themselves at all, zero, zilch, nada, exploded in complete rage? And do you have a solution? Israel doesn't.
