The ending is super interesting. First he finds out he's been used by both sides. Then he's sent home no longer needed.

You'll note the movie starts with a motorcycle and ends with a motorcycle. It's a symbol of Lawrence's pursuit of "adventure." He got more than he bargained for in Arabia, telling Dryden "It's going to be fun."

And you'll note the symbolism of his pistol on that. He gives it to his guide who's killed because of it. Later he kills the man he saved in the desert with it. Later he kills one of his kid servants with it. And still later he uses it on the massacre of the Turks. The pistol is the symbol of his naivete that war will be an "adventure."

The sunrise scene is the least of it. The best part of the story is how Lawrence believes his own mythology only to be find out he's been used and thrown out. Totally brilliant fact most audiences completely miss...

WOOSH

Sort of like this war...
