I'm a cops kid. My dad went from a patrolman walking a beat on skid row to the chief of police. With most of his time running the detective division.

It's probably why I'm so divergent. <G>

This is his take on crime over his 38 years on the force.

5% of the population commits 95% of the crimes. Of that 5%, 95% were raised in poverty.

So the causation of crime has nothing to do with red and blue. It's poverty. That's why you see so many poor red states on that list.
