We are never going to agree. You are obviously democrat and I am middle leaning heavily conservative.

Take into consideration war, spending will look bad on Republicans and many times, they inherited the wars. Nixon is an example. Eisenhower's parting words to Kennedy was to not get involved in Vietnam. He was a general and knew. He said it was unwinnable and he was right. First thing Kennedy does is go into Vietnam, then Johnson escalated it and Nixon inherited the mess.
The economy was crashing just as Bush Jr entered office from the bubble collapse so we needed stimulus then 9-11 hit.
My favorite example is Trump and Covid. Democrats LOVE to use this. He wanted to keep the economy going and was correct in hindsight like most things. DEMOCRATS shut everything down! NOBODY knew how to shut down an entire economy so 4 trillion of debt stimulus was created so yes, spending went through the roof. However, then Biden comes in, the Covid risk was over, done, finished and the economy had been reopened but then he prints another HUGE Covid relief give away. WTF!!!!!!!!! Now add in the all the other crud on top of that. We didn't need any of it. The supreme court rejected student loan bailouts and he is still circumventing the ruling with creative ways to still do it.

Like I said, we will never agree. My mantra has always been Democrats are reactionary and Republicans are strategic. Unfortunately, because of this, they each inherit opposite extremes.
