MB,

My paste was incomplete:

New players from Taiwan?

When the DRAM market does move forward, it may well be that a new player steps
forward. Taiwanese companies look as if they may take advantage of Korea's weakness,
just as the Koreans did with Japan.

New orders from Taiwanese companies in the last quarter accounted for 29 percent of
Applied's total sales, while Japanese sales of 13 percent were lower than expected.
American sales accounted for 31 percent of the total, while South Korean manufacturers,
who'd already purchased some of the next-generation equipment, totaled 6 percent.

''It comes down to who wants to invest the money to buy a part of the market,'' says
Dataquest's Handy. ''The Taiwanese may be next to do it.''
