I watched Seasons 2 & 3 of Van Der Valk. Meh... It is one of those weird programmes where a group of supposedly Dutch police sport a variety of English (I.e. from England) accents, but the locals they interact with speak only Dutch-accented English, so a key test is whether it is absorbing enough to distract one from that weirdness. It was, but only part of the time. And the show definitely was dumbed down over the two seasons. At one point I thought they were doing a parody of CSI Miami, and was surprised the scene was supposed to be serious, as the lead actor struck poses and emitted lines no real person would ever actually say, a la David Caruso. At least the Dutch scenery is nice, and pretty well the entire cast are attractive enough to be models, which is easy on the eyes but never a good sign re the actual content of the show. LC
