David - Re: "He says that Winbench 98 is not a good benchmark for comparing..."

Tom did this EXACTLY after Intel released their i740 chip. He needed a convenient way to show that the i740 wasn't good in HIS opinion so he came up with HIS OWN benchmarks.

Notice TOM neglected to discuss the "quality" of the images and the ultimate visual output of the boards he tested. That, of course, is difficult to quantify, but all other reviewers (JA Peddie, Dean McCarron & Microprocessor Report) have indicated that the i740 has perhaps the best visually pleasing displays, if not the fastest.

Bear in mind what Tom also neglected to say - the i740 is a 2D AND a 3D and a VIDEO chip his Voodoo favorite is simply a 3D accelerator. I'm not sure of the VooDoo^2 is both.

Hence, the Intel i740 is going to cover 80% of the market - super gamers will go for whatever is speediest - leaving Intel with a huge market to serve.
