Tenchu's Thoughts: If I Had A Son ...

Well this is VERY interesting:

Cornell Student Charged in Connection With Antisemitic Threats (Cornell Daily Sun)

Who is Cornell student Patrick Dai accused of violent threats against Jews (FOXNews)

Turns out the suspect is a guy named Patrick Dai. He's an engineering student and is Asian-American:

Some tidbits about this kid:

- He was the director of logistics for the Science Olympiad at Cornell.

- He was an engineering tutor and specialized in MATLAB.

- He scored an 800 on the SAT Math section. (I scored a 790, and that still bothers me to this day.)

- He took two semesters off for mental health reasons.

- His father claims that his son suffered from severe depression.

So here's what I think drove this kid to post anti-Semitic s#!t on online forums under the identifier "Hamas fighter" and other laughable user IDs:

- Extreme loneliness. He lived off-campus, as is typical of students beyond sophomore year, but he also fits the profile of an extremely anti-social tech nerd.

- Stress. Cornell is known as one of the easiest Ivy Leagues to get into, but one of the hardest to graduate from. Professors there pretty much work students down to the bone.

- Environment. Cornell is located in Bumblefuck, New York. Hardly any civilization around besides the town of Ithaca, which is hardly a hotspot for a good social life outside of campus life.

- Mental stability. Probably suffering from the same demons that affected Mel Gibson's mind.

- Social media. Due to all of the above, he might have gotten caught up in social media and may have been influenced by anti-semitic propaganda that is all-too-easily accessible to anyone with an Internet connection.

Do I think this kid really has anything to do with the general anti-Semitic movement in America? No, not really. He doesn't look like a KKK member, or a Nazi, or a Hamas fReEdOm fIgHtEr.

What does the existence of Israel and the struggle between Jews and Palestinians have to do with this kid? I believe the answer is "Nothing. Nothing at all."

So why did he post that s#!t? Because he's a loser, like Kidler or Kanye or Tila Tequila. He wants attention. In a moment of extreme depression and rage, he wanted to portray himself as a real badass, a guy that society ought to fear.

If I Had A Son ...

Obama famously (or infamously) said of Trayvon Martin, "If I had a son, he would look just like Trayvon."

I'm compelled to say the same thing about Patrick Dai.

Why?

a) Because I'm posting anonymously, so there's less of a chance of this post coming around and biting me in the ass.

b) Because I used to think that mainly "white supremacists" or "white nationalists" are susceptible to anti-Semitism.

c) Because I can easily see a guy like me getting caught up in the dark alternate reality of social media. You know, like the Q Continuum.

d) Because the lack of friends, social interaction, and spirituality is a social endemic that society needs to address. I believe this is also a big consequence of getting God and faith out of society, only to replace Him with false "gods."

e) Because I want to figure out why in 2023 anti-Semitism continues to survive and thrive like it was 1930's Germany.

As for Patrick Dai, may God have mercy on him, because modern society sure won't. He had a bright future ahead of himself, but now he's going to be relegated to the fringes of society, all because of his stupid-ass posts on social media.

When even the governor of New York has to comment on this sort of incident, and when your apartment in Collegetown is flooded with FBI agents, you know you FUCKED UP big time.
