In the past, the iMac was a prosumer model at the higher end and could be configured as such, but not now. The 27" iMacs of recent years could take up to 128GB RAM and use the fastest Intel processors available at the time.

With no larger screen iMac available and only lower end processor and RAM configs available, Apple is clearly relegating it to the consumer channel, at least for now.

The Mac Studio is the new prosumer model, but at a somewhat higher price point once you consider the cost of a monitor.
