There is nothing at all wrong with making acquisitions to fill in gaps. For the most part, their acquisitions have been for small, niche segments of the market (i.e. Prominet and Livingston). They are simply trying to fill in small gaps in their product line so that they can offer customers complete, end-to-end solutions. Look at companies such as CSCO, they have made many more acquisitions then LU has. Does that make CSCO an inefficient, poorly managed company, incapable of selling their own technology? Of course not! CSCO is one of the most efficient and well-managed companies in the World.
