Despite the strong headlines, there is fair evidence that that the economy is falling off the cliff. JY is a former Fed chief. She knows how to read the macro picture. I think this is why JP has trusted her with things that normally he wouldn't. The goal is a soft landing through a close cooperation between fiscal and monetary policies. But even so, it is still like calling a coin to land on its edge.
