If you can get a look at the feb 9th Northern Miner there is Part I of Carlin type gold deposits on page 4.
Basically it is finely disseminated gold in CARBONATIOUS sedimentary rocks. The Carlin trend is a sixty mile long belt which hosts a number of mines, past present and no doubt future. Covers most of nevada and extends to portions of Utah, Idaho, Oregon and California.
As for open pit costs, alot of variables there. Where, how big etc etc. The best thing to do if to find the cost of a similar type mine in the same local.
Dont know anything about the company you mentioned maybe you could ask T.Hall from the dessert Dirt thread he works in that general area and knows open pits.
