ECI Telecom & VocalTec to Co-develop and Market Carrier Grade IP Telephony Solutions
VocalTec has announced a joint development and marketing agreement with ECI Telecom to develop HI-GATE, a
carrier-grade, end to end IP telephony solution. Under the terms of the agreement, VocalTec will integrate its Telephony
Gateway software into ECI Telecom's Universal multi-service platform. The companies will share marketing responsibilities.
ECI will also market VocalTec's complete line of client and server IP communications solutions.
The standards based HI-GATE system should enable an Internet to PSTN gateway system to support hundreds of channels
per platform and millions of users per network. The system will also support the existing billing, provisioning, network
management, and other support systems used by carriers and it will interoperate with VocalTec's current products. The
solution should be available for full-scale carrier deployment early next year.
ECI Telecom designs, develops, manufactures, and markets digital telecommunications and data transmission systems. The
systems provide capacity expansion, management functions and utilize existing networks for voice, data, and video.
