News flash (per interview with newly elected officials on FBN) as to why this happened, in part -- Among other things, residents acting at the grass roots level along with others in the surrounding townships were all concerned about environmental factors and having a heavy industrial manufacturer in a rural area in one of Michigan's largest watersheds, zoned for light manufacturing, not for heavy industry. They would have had to change the zoning. Battery manufacturing and its chemicals didn't fit -- according to the newly elected replacement pols. Michigan has lots of history with manufacturing and pollution concerns. They also have jobs already available there that they can't fill, and don't have infrastructure to support a large manufacturing facility.
