Pkrbkr, I'll never forget a presentation made by IBM maybe 15 years ago where they talked about water-cooling their POWER-based mainframes, which were essentially space heaters.

They had a very slick animation showing how the water used for cooling these machines can then be piped into nearby homes and used as sources of hot water. That way, they don't have to waste the heat, thereby "saving the planet."

I had a good laugh at the time since I couldn't imagine any homeowner relying on hot water from a nearby server farm.

"Honey, the shower water is too cold! What's going on?"

"Sorry sweetie, IBM's servers are down for maintenance! We're just gonna have to take cold showers until it's done!"
