Starlink = as dumb as Globalstar in their ARPU marketing plans, though their technology is probably better and the satellites aren't conking out early.

I tried to buy Starlink just now. Failure on launch. Their mad greedy absurd pricing is NZ$159 per month for unlimited data plus buy a refurbished terminal for NZ$299 or a new terminal for NZ$599.

That's how Globalstar priced their service quarter of a century ago = big charges per month, minute and megabyte whether you use it or not in any given month or year.

I don't want unlimited data. I want limited data and the amount would depend on the price per megabyte and how reliable the service is and what latency, and security. If I want just 1 gigabyte per month, NZ$159 is a very steep price. If I want just voice calls via whatsapp then the price goes berserk If I just want data over WhatsApp for text messages and a few photos, it's ridiculous.

Maybe they'll get enough users with that way of thinking, but they are going to leave nearly everyone without service and they will not maximize their revenue and profits.

I suppose Elon has hired laid off Globalstar employees who can't think of anything new, even if somebody tells them = it's probably Gloria who was the Globalstar marketing woman who I explained sensible pricing to in 1999 when I sat with her in the Globalstar reception area to discuss the business and the possiblity of me providing a Globalstar service in New Zealand. But maybe she was just doing what she was told by Bernie and his bumbleheads.
