Your missing the point of vaccines.


We never got anywhere near the "herd immunity" point with COVID-19 vaccines to give non immunized Americans a chance to avoid infection:

No, you're missing the point. The covid vaccine didn't induce immunity. They thought it would but it didn't. It may have helped reduce the level of infection but nothing more. Holing everyone up for months only delayed the inevitable. Sure it saved some lives but the virus was going to work its way through the population regardless.
