Hey SOL, I was hoping you would return. Say, let's update everyone on the progress of our top picks for 1998. You had your picks of longs and shorts, and I had mine. I'll be the first to update everyone on the details:

Here's the original post (keep in mind that SMTC has since split 2-1):
Message 3070166

% price change since end of 1997:

1.THQI-- Down 5.7%
2.SMTC-- Up 52.1%
3.LUFK-- Down 11.2%
4.CD-- Up 6.2%
5.CCSC-- Up 14.8% (up 50.2%, assuming stock trades at Monday's buyout price)
6.NOV-- Down 1.9%

That means that a $1,000 investment in each stock at the closing prices of 1997 ($6,000 total investment) would be worth $6,643 as of 2/16. If you consider the fact that CCSC has just signed an agreement to be acquired by Tellabs for $41.875 per share, the return for CCSC should be close to 50%, and the value on my 6 picks would be $6997, a return of 17%. I believe that is significantly better than the overall market, but maybe your AOL short position has allowed you to best my efforts {:o)

I believe LUFK releases earnings today (Tuesday). SMTC releases earnings tomorrow. THQI releases earnings next Tuesday. It should be interesting. So, Stag- how's your 1998 goin'?

Todd
