Actually hating the sin and not the sinner is a Christian idea. My So. Baptist parents caring for a gay man with cancer is an example. As he had done for his dying parents. My gay cousin gave his soul to Christ before he died. My pastor had a gay brother who died of cancer and had the same experience as my cousin.
