Some Americans can understand a Scottish accent easier then an English accent.

Not always the case though.

If you go up to the far North East of Scotland, nobody understands what they say, not even the Scots -g-

I worked in CS for the Beemer for a while. They had to onshore the CS module from India to Scotland as the Auzzies and NZ technical staff said there were language difficulties. Some computer systems play a critical role, and language difficulties had to be avoided. Cultural differences could have played a role too.

I used to speak to guys like Barry Young I guess.
Neil Oliver was prominent on the BBC for a number of years. A big media personality who didn't just become another sycophant of the Oligarch criminals, like the rest did. Good on him.
