No one can top the sidekick in "The Last Detective," which is on our watch again list one day.

We are coming close to the end of Morse; the last episode had him berating Lewis so badly that I kind of look forward to him going away. It was a bad legacy for the character who began in "Endeavour." Most of the lead detectives on these shows need to be told to go f--- themselves much more often. I wouldn't want to work for any of them except maybe George Gently. The rest all have serious emotional development issues, then they abuse their rank to abuse others. Very childish.

We also reached the point in "Taggart" when Mark McManus suddenly passed away. Sad story that he basically drank himself to death at 59. The show holds up very well without him, however. Still a few more seasons to go.
