Having obtained the name Krickerhau from the carefully crafted letter to uncle Martin and his daughter a wikipedia search led to learning about the Carpathian Germans and finding my grandparents home town in Hauerland here at wikilink. You might be more familiar with the Zips. I still don't know how a witch was able to get "Hungarian chimney pipe" in my head, I did not learn until well after that incident what cooks call a Hungarian Chimney Pipe while at one of my niece's indoor soccer games.
