When it did, it was already generating free cash flow from operations, and profitable on the bottom line. There were audited financials, and no requirement to take it on faith. I don't need to do a genetic test (wait for proof), to know that if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck, before I call it a duck.
