Woman Arrested for Attempted Arson of Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birth Home

In a recent disturbing incident in Atlanta, Laneisha Shantrice Henderson, 26, attempted to burn down the historic birth home of Martin Luther King Jr. Henderson was observed pouring gasoline on the property's front porch and bushes. Witnesses, including tourists visiting the site and two off-duty police officers from New York, intervened swiftly. They prevented her from igniting the fire, and she was subsequently taken into custody, charged with second-degree criminal attempt to commit arson and interference with government property

The birth home, located on Auburn Avenue, is a key part of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park. Purchased by King's grandfather in 1909, it is the place where Dr. King was born on January 15, 1929.
