All IDX fans should visit this applications page and read through the actual case studies. The wannabee upstarts are dreaming about future applications while Identix is actually doing it!

Future Applications
With the aid of micro-engineering the size of the Fingerscan optical sensor will be reduced and thus open opportunities in areas like:

elecommunications - To reduce the high incidence of fraudulent use of cellular handsets, handphones fitted with a biometric device that enables the communication protocol e.g. "GSM" to be approved.

ID Checking - Portable units used by police to positively identify a member of the public using their ID card. The ID card will carry the holder's template.

PC Access - For protection of PC hardware and their operating systems.

Internet - All internet transactions will become commercially viable and safe through the use of our biometrics.

Automotive - Every car will be fitted with a Fingerscan device that will only let the car become mobile after the verification of the owner.

Hotels - Instead of keys and cards, a small biometric device will be fitted on every door. Apart from security of entry, detailed information will be available on all hotel staff who enter any room.
