Putin was expecting Trump to destroy NATO in his second term. After that, he would invade.
According to Vlad Vexler on YouTube, Trump during his first term was an incredible disappointment to the PooTin regime.

While Trump publicly sucked PooTin's little cock, the rest of the Trump administration did everything they could to hamper the Kremlin's agenda.

However, I believe Trump won't make that "mistake" again during his second term.

But then again, I believe Trump won't be making a lot of "mistakes" again during his second term.

Such as, for example, the "mistake" of "supporting the Constitution" despite what his oath of office states:

So no, I don't believe PooTin expected Trump to destroy NATO in his second term, at least not back in 2020.

These days, however, it's almost a given.
