First, it should be common knowledge when I said the northeast were the liberal free states, I was speaking in general and in relation to the southern slave states. And the northeast is still liberal compared to the brain dead conservative south.

It's misleading to say the northern states were liberal. Also you should specify which century you're talking about. 1900 or 2000.

Maybe you meant 2000. TX for instance has only been run by Republicans since about 1995, the year Bush became governor. Though Bush governed with Democrats in control of the TX legislature. Republican control of the TX leg. is even more recent..
