Miraje, gotta love the Democratic People's Republic of California.

They tax gas heavily and adopt every policy imaginable to discourage gas consumption, only to end up with less and less gas tax revenue:

California Gas Tax Revenue Will Drop By $6 Billion, Threatening Roads (SFGate)

Shouldn't California be celebrating this? Shouldn't less and less gas tax revenue prove that California is leading the nation toward a future free of fossil fuels?

Gavin Newsom himself should be showing up at a renewable energy plant under a banner saying "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED"

Instead, they're bemoaning the loss of gas tax revenue because of how that could affect road maintenance.

But wait! Why should California keep maintaining its roads anyway? Shouldn't everyone be taking buses, trains, and other forms of mass transit?

Maybe the roads SHOULD be maintained less. Maybe the roads SHOULD rot away, develop tire-eating potholes during every storm, so that fewer and fewer people would be encouraged to drive on them.

Maybe we SHOULD move to a future where walkable and bikable cities are a thing, where development centers around mass transit, and where smog-producing (and globe-warming) highways are a thing of the past.

Anything is possible if we all collectively put our minds to it!

After all, we put a man on the moon.

We moved away from horses and carriages.

We stand for "progress." Can't spell "progressive" without the "progress," right comrade?
