Re: How the Market Makers Work; All who have an interest: the specific question that I was asked, which had to do with the Level 2 screens, will be addressed in a later post, but the general ideas need to be understood first. (For example, if someone told you that "mark up" is the same as "commission", you need to clear it up; it isn't the same). I strongly urge anyone who has an interest in how the securities industry works to check out a site I found on Saturday. It has a search feature! For a description of how market makers work, you can search for "market maker" and you'll get a superb explanation. There is a vast quantity of information on this site; please take a look if you have a question about almost anything. You can find the link on the "Dictionary Glossary FAQ" thread; it's the most recent post, called "Every Question You Ever Had..." Subject 18891 BTW, the "Dictionary Glossary FAQ" thread has links to all sorts of reference sites, not just this one, and if you ever need help, you can search SI for the keyword(s) and get some help fast. Check it out! You'll like it.
