I dunno what the goal is; maybe no religious displays on public property. We tried that. But some absolutists didn't like that. So they tried to game the system. Unsurprisingly, they don't like it when they get mocked for it. Personally, I don't care either way. What I don't like is when one group wants exclusive rights.
