Great whale’s poop has high iron and other nutrient content, which encourages phytoplankton growth. Herring and other bait fish feed on phytoplankton. Herring stocks flourish when there are lots of whales. Predator fish such as salmon, bluefin tuna etc also thrive… the fishing industry benefits too. Whales are good to have around, not to senselessly slaughter for their blubber.
